Written by David Mitchell, Director of Risk Control & Safety, Aon Risk Solutions, Transportation & Logistics Practice

Are your vehicle maintenance scores too high and do you need better scores as soon as possible?

Transportation Insurance Marketplace – A Changing Landscape
Written by Jennifer Trzebiatowski, Broker, Aon Risk Solutions, Transportation and Logistics Practice

The insurance marketplace for the Transportation Industry is changing due to unprecedented severity trends in commercial auto liability. The trucking space has seen a proliferation of large claims and settlements in recent years. In 2012-2014 alone, twelve verdicts issued in six states totaled $900 million in awarded damages against motor carriers. No longer are these adverse verdicts considered to be “runaway”, but are now being considered “nuclear” by The American College of Transportation Attorneys.

The shift to extremely large verdicts has had a direct impact on insurance carrier’s profitability, causing them to make a strategic review of their business in the trucking segment.

Insurance Coverage for Independent Contractor Misclassification – Webinar replay available
Independent Contractor misclassification poses a significant operational and balance sheet risk to Transportation Companies. The regulatory environment is constantly evolving and presenting new challenges to the model. States and regulatory authorities have varying, and often conflicting, regulations and definitions related to Independent Contractors. To address this issue, Aon has created a proprietary product to provide insurance coverage for the legal defense and penalties associated with a class action misclassification event.

Empower Results Day for Communities
On June 15, thousands of colleagues in more than 50 countries and approximately 175 cities across the globe, volunteered in their communities to celebrate Aon’s annual day of service. Colleagues from Little Rock partnered with The St. Francis House, providing donations of linens, and kitchen goods for the Department of Veterans Affairs, to assist in setting up homes for the homeless. They also had a group that volunteered their time by cleaning and organizing the donation/storage closet and the ‘store’ where the donated items are made available to those in need.
